On the afternoon of July 26, 2024, the Eighth General Meeting of Members and the First Expanded Meeting of the Eighth Council of the Jiangsu Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Association were successfully held at the Radisson Hotel in Wuxi. Members of the Jiangsu Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Association Council and more than 190 member units participated in the meeting. Qiu Boxin, Secretary-General of the Association, presided over the meeting.

  The Eighth General Meeting of Members was held with the original aspiration and vision of making concerted efforts, advancing together through prosperity and adversity, and jointly promoting the scientific, stable and healthy development of the electric bicycle industry. Following the consensus reached at the Sixth Expanded Meeting of the Seventh Council of the Association, the purposes of this meeting were as follows: to listen to, review and vote on the work reports of the Seventh Council, the Secretariat, the financial report and the report of the supervisors; to listen to the explanation of the revision of the articles of association, review and vote on the newly revised articles of association; to listen to, review and vote on the adoption of other internal management systems; to listen to and vote on the preparatory work for the change of term election, the method of change of term election, the selection and generation of scrutineers, vote counters and tellers, and to elect and announce the list of members of the Eighth Council of the Association by secret ballot; to vote on the newly revised membership fee standards and management methods; and to announce the list of newly joined enterprises.

1 Work Report of the Seventh Council

  At the beginning of the meeting, Qiu Boxin first gave a brief report on the attendance of member representatives and units, introduced the main agenda of the meeting, and announced the official start of the meeting. All attendees sang the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China. Subsequently, the attending representatives listened to, reviewed and voted on the work report of the Seventh Council in turn.

  Zhang Chongshun, Chairman of the Seventh Council of the Jiangsu Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Association, delivered an overall work report centered around "Developing New Quality Productive Forces and Exploring New Markets Overseas."

He affirmed the unremitting efforts made by the Jiangsu Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Association and industry colleagues over the past five years to boost market recovery and contribute to the green transportation cause in the face of challenges such as COVID-19 control measures, the implementation of new national standards, the frequent introduction of various supporting standards for electric bicycles, the expansion of e-commerce business, and the transformation towards high-quality development. He also pointed out that the Jiangsu bicycle and electric vehicle industry has shown strong resilience. Electric vehicle enterprises have increased intelligent technological transformations and ventured into international markets, while bicycle enterprises have vigorously explored the domestic mid-to-high-end bicycle market, striving for steady progress and innovation. The Association has actively played a leading role in the industry, resonating with the industry's development, providing comprehensive empowerment, and boosting the high-quality development of the industry.

  Song Jinyun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Seventh Council, delivered a work report of the Secretariat themed "Joining Hands in the New Era and Forging Ahead on a New Journey."

She summarized the efforts and achievements made by the Secretariat of the Association over the past five years in conducting industry research, voicing enterprise demands, cooperating with relevant departments, and building business and trade exchange platforms. Meanwhile, playing the role of a media platform for industry information exchange, the Secretariat has done a good job in various statistical reports and promotion work. It is committed to providing all-round services for members, giving full play to the bridging role of the industry association, connecting the domestic and international dual circulation, integrating various resources, safeguarding industry interests, and enhancing the international competitiveness of Jiangsu's bicycle and electric vehicle industry.

He summarized the changes in the association's assets and liabilities and the situation of business activities over the past five years. He pointed out that the healthy continuation of the association's activities cannot be separated from the coordinated cooperation of member enterprises. The association will still strive to do a good job in all kinds of organizational and service work, and hopes that enterprises will actively support and participate to jointly promote the sustainable development of the industry.

  Lu Jinlong, Vice Chairman of the China Bicycle Association and Honorary Chairman of the Jiangsu Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Association, delivered a speech on the situation and future trends of the bicycle and electric two-wheeler industry in 2024. He interpreted aspects such as foreign trade data of bicycles and electric two-wheelers, analysis of bicycle complete vehicles and component exports, domestic supply and demand situation, and market expectations.

  He highlighted two key directions. Firstly, the safety issues of electric two-wheelers and batteries deserve attention. Enterprises should enhance their competitiveness, face up to future trends, and promote the safe, healthy, and high-quality development of the industry. Secondly, with phenomena such as the "short supply" of high-end bicycles in the domestic market and cycling culture becoming a trend, the domestic sports bicycle market is experiencing a second rise and has great potential in the future. Two-wheelers are the ultimate solution for urban short-distance transportation.
